The Stuff I already Know,
so You Don’t Have to Google it.

Substitutions, rescues, and the reasoning behind the step you were about to skip — plus the recipes I actually use.

Easy Cheesy Calzone

This is basically pizza folded in half—which already feels like a pretty solid life choice.

Ricotta, mozzarella, pizza sauce, and whatever fillings you’re in the mood for get tucked inside pizza dough and baked until golden. It’s easy, customizable, and especially handy when everybody wants something a little different.

Prep & Timing

Prep: 10 minutes  |  Ready in: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Pizza Crust Mix, plus ingredients needed to prepare it (or try my homemade pizza dough recipe)
  • ½ cup ricotta
  • ⅓ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • Optional fillings: pepperoni, sausage, vegetables, or your favorites

Directions

  1. Set the Deluxe Air Fryer & Oven to CONV BAKE at 400°F (205°C) for 24 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Pizza Crust Mix according to the package directions. Roll half of the prepared dough into a 12-inch circle.
  3. Place the dough in the Half Pie Pan with half of the dough draping over the straight side. Fill with ricotta, pizza sauce, mozzarella, and your favorite fillings.
  4. Fold the crust over the filling and crimp the edges to seal.
  5. Place the pan in the oven on the Wire Rack and press START. Rotate halfway through cooking. If the calzone is browning too quickly, tent it with foil.
  6. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Make It Your Own

This is practically begging to be customized. Go classic with pepperoni, use cooked sausage, add mushrooms, peppers, onions, spinach, or whatever else you normally like on pizza.

You can also change the cheese. Keep the ricotta and swap the mozzarella, or use a combination of cheeses you already have.

The basic idea is the important part: dough + sauce + cheese + fillings you actually like. The recipe is the guide. The calzone is yours.

Laura’s Tip

Don’t overfill it. I know it’s tempting—more cheese, more toppings, more happiness—but you still need to fold and seal the dough without everything escaping. Also give it the full 10-minute rest before cutting so the filling has a chance to settle.
