Cooking Dried Beans in the Deluxe Multi-Cooker
No complicated recipe here! Dried beans are easy to prepare in the Multi-Cooker, and the most important step happens before you turn it on.
How to Prepare Dried Beans
- Sort and rinse your beans. Spread them out and check for small stones, dirt, or other debris that can sometimes be mixed in with dried beans. Remove anything that doesn’t belong, then rinse the beans thoroughly under cool running water.
- Add beans and water to the Multi-Cooker. Follow the directions on the package for the bean variety you’re using, along with your Multi-Cooker’s instructions for liquid amounts and maximum fill levels.
- Cook according to the package and appliance directions. Cooking times vary depending on the type and age of the beans. Follow any soaking guidance specific to your beans.
- Check for tenderness. If they need more time, continue cooking according to your appliance instructions.
Laura’s Tip: Don’t skip sorting and rinsing! Dried beans can contain little bits of debris, including tiny stones. A quick check before cooking makes a difference.
One more thing: Dried kidney beans need special attention: follow the package’s safety directions for proper boiling and cooking rather than relying on pressure-cooking time alone.
