This is one of those recipes that looks impressive without requiring you to spend half the day in the kitchen. Deli meats, melty cheese, roasted peppers, and crescent dough all baked into one big shareable sandwich ring.
It works for dinner, game day, parties, or anytime you need to feed a hungry crowd without making eight individual sandwiches.
Watch Me Make It
Ingredients
- 2 tsp. oil
- 2 pkgs. (8 oz. each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 6 oz. deli ham, thinly sliced
- 3 oz. deli pepperoni
- 2 oz. capocollo or prosciutto
- ½ cup roasted red pepper strips, drained and patted dry
- ¼ cup sliced pepperoncini or banana peppers, drained and patted dry
- 1 egg white, whisked
- ½ tbsp. sesame seeds
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a large round baking stone or pizza pan with oil.
- Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 16 triangles. Arrange the triangles in a circle with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points facing outward. Leave about a 5-inch opening in the middle. Gently press the center to flatten.
- Lay the provolone in a circle over the dough, followed by the meats. Top with the roasted red peppers and pepperoncini or banana peppers.
- Bring the points of the dough triangles up and over the filling, then tuck the points under the dough at the center to form a ring. Some of the filling will still show.
- Brush the top with the whisked egg white and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the ring rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Make It Your Own
Think of the meats in this recipe as suggestions, not rules. Ham, pepperoni, prosciutto, capocollo, salami—use the combination your family likes or, frankly, whatever is hanging out in the deli drawer.
You can also swap the provolone for mozzarella or another good melting cheese, use banana peppers instead of pepperoncini, or leave the peppers out altogether.
And don’t forget the dip. Warm marinara is an easy choice, or mix equal parts mayonnaise and Italian dressing for a creamy Italian dip.
Laura’s Tip
Keep the crescent dough cold until you’re ready for it. Once it gets warm, it gets sticky and stretchy—and suddenly your beautiful sandwich ring starts looking like it had a rough night.
Also let the finished ring sit for about 10 minutes before cutting it. That gives everything inside a chance to settle instead of immediately escaping onto your cutting board.
